In the story, The Velveteen Rabbit, all the little stuffed animals come alive after the little one has gone to bed.  I wish that these stuffies would wake up and put themselves away whilst my little one naps, but they, too, look tucked-in and asleep.  As a self-confessed neat-freak, I find it nearly impossible to keep up with beautifully curious, energetic little toddler.  When I do have a moment to clean up, I’m often so exhausted that it’s the last thing I want to do.  See Exhibit A: pooped-out husband on the couch.  I’ve engaged the help of the little one as best I can with emptying out the dishwasher and doing the laundry, and she’s happy to help, but it does take twice as long that way.  Part of me can’t go to bed until the house is somewhat in order, and the other part wants to just take a deep breath and let it all go.
